Ray Davies. One of the most successful and influential songwriters to emerge from the British Invasion of the 1960s, Ray Davies founded The Kinks with his brother Dave in London in 1963 releasing the classic hits You Really Got Me, All Day and All of The Night, Tired of Waiting, Set Me Free, See My Friends, Till The End of The Day, A Well Respected Man, Lola, Sunny Afternoon, Dedicated Follower of Fashion, Apeman, and Come Dancing among many others. Davies also composed several pioneering rock operas including Arthur, The Village Green Preservation Society, Preservation and Soap Opera.

Colin Staples
The Lifetime Achievement Award presented by The British Blues Awards has been given to Colin Staples for the work he has done promoting the blues in and around Nottingham over the last 45 years.
Presentation will be at The Greyhound, Beeston, Nottingham on Thursday September 30th Kevin Thorpe’s Tipping Point will be the house band on the night with lots of special guests, and of course a jam session, the evening starts at 8.30pm, door charge £4.00
