Alligator Records 40th Anniversary Collection

I would think that most blues fans in the UK have heard of Alligator Records, they may even have an album or two in their collection, but when this album dropped onto my doormat I thought to myself this will open up a brand new insight into American roots & blues music to so many British blues fans, 38 stunning tracks of ‘Genuine Houserockin’ Music’ from some of the late and great musicians that have signed up to Alligator Records over the last 40 years.

From the first to sign up with founder Bruce Iglaur’s label, Hound Dog Taylor in 1971 through to new on the scene, for me, names you’ve heard but never heard anything by, Anders Osborne and Janiva Magness, this double album is everything a blues fan would want to keep him or her happy for more than a few hours of the very best of Blues, Roots, Gospel music, a must for any fan of the blues.
