Alex - When I heard my friend Simon, who was playing a 12 bar blues and I thought great, I’m going to have guitar lessons and learn how to play like that, and it just grew on me.
CM - How old were you then and how old are you now?
Alex - Six, five or six, I am now thirteen.
CM - Who were the influences on your musical career?
Alex - Probably Matt Schofield, Hamilton Loomis, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Samuel C Lees people like that
CM - What’s next in your musical career?
Alex - I would like to make a full album, gig loads, and get on all the main stages at the top festivals
CM - What was the first gig that you played?
Alex - The first gig I played was at The Whittles in Oldham, it was a good gig, it made me feel good about getting up on stage and not feeling nervous, really getting my confidence.
Alex - An Aria Strat copy that my mother & father bought me, my first proper guitar is the Gibson SG I was playing earlier on stage. I have four guitars.
Thank you for the interview Alex, it was a pleasure to meet you and I shall be keeping an eye on your progress.
Caroline Miller
Nottingham Blues Society
Alex - If the audience is good, the gig is good.
CM - Who inspired you to pick up the guitar?
Alex - My friend Simon who I haven’t seen for ages
CM - Which blues artists have influenced you?
Alex - I like Hamilton Loomis the most.
CM - Why do you feel that young people are not as attracted to the blues as other Genres?
Alex - Because they don’t think it’s cool and everyone is into rap music and stuff like that I think everyone wants to be a rap star, there not bothered about the blues they don’t want to play guitars they would rather play on Xboxes
CM - Are there any blues musicians (Dead or Alive) who you would like to play with?
Alex - Either Matt Schofield or Stevie Ray Vaughan
